“Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?….But who do you say that I am?”. Matthew 16:13-18
There will always be two ideas about Jesus. One will be the man made idea, human speculation. The other is God given revelation. Even though the man made idea was connected to “good men”, John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah. Jesus didn’t respond until Peter answered “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus acknowledged Peters answer by saying, yes correct Peter and you know this because you have been given revelation by My Father in heaven.
It matters to Jesus what His followers believe about Him. And because this understanding of who He is is so vital it is not left to chance or human reasoning. God Himself gives His true followers the revelation needed to know Jesus intimately and correctly. There will always be an attempt by man to redo, add to, or undo what God has freely given man accomplished by God alone and according to His Good will.
There are no other books authored by God to detail His plan of redemption except the 66 books of the Bible. There are no other names of God other than those names He has revealed of Himself in the 66 books of the Bible. And there is no other name given unto man by which we must be saved, Jesus. Be sure you answer the question “Who do you say that I am?” with revelation not speculation.
